DAY 8
Saving Grace: (30 Seconds) The greatest Dragon Slayer that ever lived (other than Jesus himself) was the virgin Mary. Satan's pride is no match for the humility of Mary. He doesn't know how to employ it or deal with it... that is why he is always in direct confrontation with the woman. Satan said "I will not serve." Mary said "Do whatever he tells you." Nobody's prayers are more powerful than Mary's. Invoke the power of that intercession with the Memorare.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
ATHLETICS: (55 Minutes) We will use the acronym S.P.O.R.T.S to focus on 6 virtues that will keep you focused all 40 days. Virtue of the day: Sportsmanship.....people are never the enemy. The enemy is evil. People are children of God, all of them, even the ones who annoy and persecute you. They are the ones we are trying to save. Seek to win souls, not arguments. We live the faith in the middle of our ordinary every day lives, in the people we encounter, the hobbies we have, the sports we play, and the jobs we do.

Instructor's Manual: (5 minutes) We need to prepare for Sunday Mass by reading the readings before we go. Read Sunday's readings, "He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design..." http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings
Do you have small children at home? It is important that they learn how to prepare for Sunday Mass. Click on the link below...each week they will show a video for the gospel, have a coloring page, and a quiz. Try it!

Need to Know Him: (10 minutes) Spend 10 minutes in the classroom of silence. Ask the Divine Architect for the plans for your life. If you don't get the plans first, you will spend a lot of time doing the wrong things. Then, of course, you will say you are too busy. If you pray, your time will increase, not decrease. You will begin to discover what is important, and what is waste of time.
Theology of the Body: (5 minutes) Questions of the Day:
1. As Catholics, we believe in the bodily resurrection "on the last day". How do souls appear in Heaven now? Elijah was taken up to Heaven in a chariot of fire - yet Heaven wasn't opened for us until Jesus ascended... Can you explain? Does he have a body?
2. Does the Catholic Church believe that Christ will return at the 7th Trumph, 7th Vial, and 7th Seal, because NO WHERE in the Bible does it says RAPTURE. THANK YOU
3. Why am I so absolutely fearful of dying
1. Good question. Remember I am not a theologian so I will rely heavily on the catechism for these answers. "In death, the separation of the soul from the body, the human body decays and the soul goes to meet God, while awaiting its reunion with it's glorified body....in expectation of that day, the believer's body and soul already participate in the dignity of belonging to Christ. This dignity entails the demand that he should treat with respect his own body, but also the body of every other person, especially the suffering: The body is meant for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?....You are not your own;....So glorify God in your body." (CCC 997 and 1004). ......What does Elijah look like and how did he go straight to heaven if Christ hadn't come? This was something I asked a long time ago and I'm not sure I ever found the answer yet...I think it had something to do with our concept of time is very different from God's (past, present, future, etc.) If somebody knows the answer to this send me an email :)
2. The Church does not believe in the "Rapture" as we hear the term in movies. Jesus Christ will return at the end of time in all his glory "to judge the living and the dead...the glorious Christ will reveal the secret disposition of hearts and will render to each man according to his works and according to his acceptance or refusal of grace." (CCC 682) Before He returns, the Church will "pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers....the supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh." (CCC 675) Nobody knows the hour when Christ will return.
3. I will touch on this question in video 4 of SIMU, which is the most important of all the videos. I hope you will watch it. It revolves around getting to know God (Need to Know Him). He is the bridegroom, and we are the bride. Nobody wants an arranged wedding where you have never met the person you are about to marry. Perhaps our fear of death is a case of cold feet. Perhaps we need to get to better know the bridegroom.
Sacrifice and Service: (10 seconds) Say this simple prayer: "Lord, I offer up the sacrifices and sufferings of this day for......" Pick any soul...lost sheep, family, friends, enemies, strangers, souls in purgatory...anybody. When you get busy and
distracted just remember, other souls are counting on you. You have the power to help get souls to heaven....don't waste it.
